As of February 18, 2025, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has revised its forecast for Henry Hub natural gas prices, anticipating an average of $3.80 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) for the year.

In January 2025, the Henry Hub spot price averaged $4.13 per MMBtu, marking a significant increase from December’s average of $3.01 per MMBtu.

The EIA’s February Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) attributes this upward revision to a cold end to January, which increased demand for space heating and contributed to a 12% rise in U.S. natural in gas consumption over the previous five-year average for the month.

While the EIA’s forecast provides a general outlook, it’s important to note that natural gas prices can be volatile and influenced by various factors, including weather conditions, geopolitical events, and market dynamics.
